TRAVELLERS REST PLANTATION & MUSEUM
HOSTS ANNUAL MUSIC FESTIVAL SUNDAY, JUNE 1
Event
Starts at 4 p.m.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Travellers Rest Plantation &
Museum will host the 12th annual Music Festival on
Sunday, June 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. The festival will feature a
variety of local musicians, including Treva Blomquist, Bella Musiqa,
Melissa Brett, and Turk McNamara.
Bella Musiqa consists of Roger Hudson on
oud and David Pruett on percussion. Roger Hudson offers the music
world a rare and prized combination -- exceptional performer and
gifted composer. Classical guitar is Hudson's instrument-of-choice,
and he employs it to express a variety of moods, styles, and
techniques.
Once a Seattle resident, Treva Blomquist is now
a Nashville local and has quickly risen to the top of an endless
pool of talent that inundates the music city. Treva's ability to
seamlessly weave a tapestry of folk and soul, dye it indigo blue,
and adorn it with the occasional sparkling sequin of pop has earned
her considerable recognition among artists and critics alike.
1995, Turk McNamara moved to Nashville to
pursue his dreams of succeeding in the music business. He quickly
made a name for himself playing Irish music and has established
himself as one of the most prolific performers in town. Confidently
settling into her musical skin as a songwriter and recording artist,
Melissa Brett came to Nashville in 2000. She continues to develop
her craft; attending writers nights, taking guitar lessons, and
recording demos while working for the Tennessee Performing Arts
Center in downtown Nashville.
Gates open at 2 p.m., with complimentary house
tours of historic Travellers Rest offered until the live music
begins, at 4 p.m. Admission to the event is $12 for adults and $5
for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased on the day of the
event with cash only at the front gate. For information, please
call Julie Beale at (615) 832-8197 or visit the website at
